L.A. Part II Finally
LA decides to let us live afterall....
We made it into LA and then found ourselves going down a nice little road at 2am where people were hanging out in the middle of the street and approaching our car. It was kind of like a bad movie.
No. It WAS a bad movie. And it was the part where someone dies soon. Most likely the two chicks lost in the car. On Cynthia's advice, I did an illegal U-turn and got the hell out of dodge. We then went to the first random motel of the night, to which the night clerk asked us if we would like one bed or two giving us a really sketchy eyebrow raise. I could tell he was really hoping we'd say one and that he could send us off to the room with the hidden camera in it.
Motel number two was a motel I've stayed in before and loved, but this time there was no parking available except for one spot that had a neon sign above it that said, "hey, we're tourists, please steal this car."
Motel number three had no heat, the phone was ripped out of the wall, and there were visible stains on all of the furniture. But at 3am, it felt like home sweet home.
We might be in the gutter...but we're looking up at the stars....
The most beautiful daddylonglegs in the shower with me (I made sure no water got on him).

We spent a whirlwind of three days doing photoshoots and running around. I had originally envisioned our trip being this strolling around Hollywood, taking in the sites, going out all night and then doing photoshoots. Yeah. I must have been delirious. I don't know how I thought that was gonna happen (although I did get a lot of sightseeing done on the LA freeways where I spent most of my trip). I felt really lucky to work with the photographers I did. The best part for me was talking to all of them while setting up and hearing their fun experiences. It's really important for me to feel safe and connected to the people I'm shooting with and all three of them were amazing! I got a chance to work with photographers David Perry, Danielle Bedics and Jim Groves.
I'll be posting pics from them here on my journal over the next couple days...
But first, the picture I took of photographer, Jim Groves and I on the Sunset Strip.

The picture he took of me. (That's why he's the photographer.)

Jim was really cool and didn't wanna kill me when I did silly things like jump out of my seat and throw my arm out the window (in front of his face while he drove) screaming, "the Hollywood sign! whoo hoo! We're FAaaaaaaa-mous!"
I loved Hollywood. The only regret I have is that Cynthia and I didn't throw the tv through the motel window like we were rockstars and that we weren't hauled off out of the motel in handcuffs screaming, "What bank? You got the wrong dolls, you lousy coppers!", but hey, maybe next time.
And then I came home to this...

Two things to know for certain if you give me a shot of tequila:
1. I will spend the rest of the night taking pictures of me kissing your cheek.
2. I will get out a pen and start writing on you.
It's good to be back, New York City!

Los Angeles...
"I don't care where we go...I don't care what we do. I don't care, Pretty Baby...just take me with you."

"I am going to Los Angeles to build a screenplay about lovers who murder each other. I am going to Los Angeles to see my own name on a screen...five feet long and luminous...."

Packed and ready to go on an adventure. Vintage lingerie? Check! Dame garter panties? Check! Cuban heeled stockings? Check! Fans, roses and my vintage 1940s postcard collection? Check! Well...what are you waiting for? Let's hit the road!
But first, I'm stamped with the dreaded four s's. That translates to marked as suspicious times four. It's code that means you hit the lottery and you get to have everything you own searched by the guards. This time, I even had to lift up the bottoms of my bare feet to show there was nothing taped to the bottom. Thank God I had a pedicure recently. International spies have it rough these days.

The security guard rifling through my underwear at the gate. heh.

My childhood friend, Cynthia and I embark on a series of misadventures (starting with me trying to take pictures of her while driving).

One (cookie) for the road (...or two, or three). Hyperactive giddiness ensues with my homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Before long, we found ourselves in the seventh circle of hell (otherwise known as the Los Angeles freeways). We were stuck in stopped traffic for almost three full hours. In an act of desperation, i ripped open a Sunmaid raisin box with the intent to scrawl "help us, we need water" on the inside to post to the window. It was only a matter of time before cannabalism set in.

Pull up a chair and stare at this picture for three hours and it's like you were with me.
Good times, right?
LA wants to kill us.
It gets better...just you wait. Stay tuned for fun with photographers, more freeways, motel rooms with telephones ripped out of the walls and oh yeah, GLAMOUR! Part deux tomorrow.

My Heart is On Fire for the First National

Is it wrong that I daydreamed about robbing banks for the majority of today?
The world simply did not know what to do with us. It was only a matter of time...
"Down on the ground......
.....put your hands where I can see them....
...and don't nobody move...."
Daddy, you sure do know how to talk to a girl!
We don't have the fingerprints to stay in this town.
The above photo is my eye in the monitor for the making of my film - Revolver. And my friends, this is the year that we'll get the funding, I can feel it. Either from legit sources, or from me taking every bank from here to Vegas. So unless you wanna see me locked up in prison for the rest of my life, you better pass the promotional trailer onto all your friends who wanna invest in the chance of a lifetime.

Me and my old 1950s red Chinese suitcase are hitting the road next week - off to haunted old Hollywood Motels. I'm heading off from NYC to the lights of LA for a photoshoot spree and to bring out promotional Revolver packages. Cross your fingers for this dame, would ya?
I'm dragging you all in this with me. You don't have any choice. I'm kidnapping you. The end.
In other news, I woke up this morning to have this sassy link waiting for me...
Nothing like reading about my exploits in German before breakfast!
(Ich bedanke mich, Stefan. Ich liebe dich!)
Besides daydreaming endlessly about bank robberies...I was thinking about how incredibly happy it makes me when I drive into the city and come out to my expired parking meter hours later to find that there's no parking ticket stuck on my windshield. It's kind of like the feeling you get when you win a scratch-off ticket. A nice simple little thrill that makes you wanna shake your fists in the air.
Chalk another one up for the underdogs.

My first post of the New Year...
Because it's on my mind, I just want to say this first...please, if you are reading this, please donate something to the Red Cross for helping people in Southeast Asia recover from the tsunami. Just giving five bucks would help alot, it all adds up. We all have to help each other to make this world a better place. But you already know that, cause you are a rock star. Now whip out that credit card and help. I'll ♥ you more than I already do now.
With everything that's happening in the world right now, I'm especially thankful for every day I have here with my friends. We decided to go out and celebrate in the city for New Years (yes, we are crazy)...it was just one long line after another, but ended with hula hoops. So I was happy for that.
Let's go for a ride. Climb inside...

Z leads the way to anarchy.
New York City goes by out the window of the Matchbox.

Self portrait of me and Champagne.

Get out your tiaras, my Pretties...it's time to rule the world.
Happy New Year to you all....
